Wh-words และ How

Wh-words and How คือ คำที่ใช้แสดงคำถาม เช่น what, which, when, where, who, Whom, Whose, why, how, how much, how many, how old, how+ Adjective (หรือ adverb)
โดยมีการเรียงรูปประโยค ดังนี้

คำถาม กริยาช่วย/Verb to be ประธาน (กริยา)+ส่วนอื่น ๆ

 
ถ้ากริยาในประโยคเป็น  Verb to be หรือมีกริยาช่วยตัวอื่น ๆ เราเพียงแต่สลับ Verb to be หรือ กริยาช่วยมาไว้หน้าประธาน ส่วนอื่น ๆ ยังคงอยู่ในตำแหน่งเดิม เช่น 
What : (อะไร)  ใช้ถามเกี่ยวกับสัตว์และสิ่งของทั่วไ ปก็ได้

• เวลาเท่าไหร่แล้ว à What time is it?

Which : (คนไหน, อันไหน,ตัวไหน) ใช้ถามได้ทั้งคน สัตว์ สิ่งของเป็นได้ทั้ง Adjective และ Pronoun

• วิชาไหนที่คุณชอบมากกว่ากัน à which subject do u prefer, science or math?

When : (เมื่อไหร่) เป็นได้แต่adverbอย่างเดียว  ใช้ถามถึงเวลา

• คุณจะกลับมาอีกเมื่อไหร่ à When will you be back?

Where : (ที่ไหน)  เป็นได้แต่adverbอย่างเดียว ใช้ถามถึงสถานที่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นที่อยู่ หรือที่ๆจะไปสู่

• รถของคุณจอดอยู่ที่ไหน à Where do you park a car?

Who : (ใคร) เป็น Pronoun อย่างเดียว ใช้กับคนและใช้เป็นประธานเสมอ

• ชายคนนั้นคือใคร à Who is that man?

Whom : ใคร เป็น pronoun อย่างเดียว ใช้ถามถึงคนในกรณีที่บุคคลนั้นทำหน้าที่เป็นกรรม

• เขากำลังพูดกับใคร à Whom is he speaking with?

Whose : (ของใคร) ใช้กับคนเพื่อถามถึงเจ้าของ

• นั่นบ้านของใครà Whose house is that?

Why : (ทำไม) ใช้ถามเมื่อต้องการทราบเหตผล, สาเหตุ หรือ จุดประสงค์

• ทำไมคุณจึงมาสายà Why are you late?

How : (อย่างไร) ใช้ถาม ในลักษณะของอาการ ,วิธีการ , และขั้นต้นประโยคสำหรับการทักทาย     

• เชาเล่นเปียโนไดอย่างไรบ้าง  à How does he play the piano?
